HOW OFTEN SHOULD I CHANGE THE MICROBIAL FILTER MAT?

You should change the filter mat every 4 weeks.

The MICROBIAL FILTER MAT contains millions of micro-organisms which break down or “eat” the oil and grease washed off dirty parts turning them into harmless carbon dioxide and water. This process leaves the solution clean and strong for every use, effectively recycling the fluid and reducing the need for hazardous waste disposal. It is really important to change the filter each month to renew the microbe colony and keep the Parts Washer working at its optimum performance level.

The microbes live for around four weeks before dying off, so a monthly filter change replenishes the colony of microbes.

The white layer of the mat also acts as a "filter" stopping large particles of grease and debris entering the system. If you don’t change the filter mat every month you will get a build-up of oil, grease and sludge leaving you with unusable fluid.

HOW OFTEN DO I ADD FLUID TO THE PARTS WASHER?

All Rozone Parts Washers are equipped with a low fluid indicator light that will let you know when it is time to add fluid. Under normal use, it will be necessary to add fluid every 2-3 months.

The low fluid indicator light is situated on the control box of the machine, this tells you when you need to top up with 20L ROWASH DEGREASING SOLUTION. As the system is heated to 40°C, over time you will lose some fluid through evaporation; when it drops by 20 litres the sensor probe in the machine which measures the level of the fluid will switch the red light on and the heater element off as a safety feature.

It is important to add 20L ROWASH as soon as possible to prevent the fluid going cold and the microbe activity diminishing. Topping up with 20L ROWASH will get the temperature back up to 40°c.

DOES A ROZONE PARTS WASHER NEED TO HAVE A REGULAR VISIT FROM A SERVICE ENGINEER?

Rozone Parts Washers do not require a regular service contract, unlike other solvent and aqueous parts washers.

Our clever bioremediating technology means waste fluid generation is dramatically reduced, cutting the expense of hazardous waste removal on a regular basis by a service contractor and bringing significant savings to the user.

Our Parts Washers are designed to be safely and easily maintained in-house with a simple monthly change of the Microbial Filter Mat and top-up of ROwash Solution when the low fluid indicator light shows.

WHAT HAPPENS TO ALL THE GREASE, OIL AND OTHER CONTAMINANTS DURING WASHING?

Our Parts Washers use an environmentally friendly cleaning process called bioremediation. This means that millions of micro-organisms are released into the system through our Microbial Filter Mat. They break down any oil and grease (hydrocarbons) washed off dirty parts, turning them into a harmless mix of carbon dioxide and water.

The concentration of surfactant in our ROwash Solution formula has been specially chosen by our Chemists to make the contaminant particles (hydrocarbons) the smallest they can be, so the microbes can easily break them down. This ensures the fluid stays cleaner for longer.

Large particles of grease and debris, up to 50 microns in size, are trapped by the white layer of the Microbial Filter Mat stopping them from entering the system and prolonging the “life” of the fluid.

For heavy use applications we recommend using our multi-layer filter mat.

HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO CHANGE THE FLUID?

With normal use and proper maintenance, you should only have to change the solution once every 18 months or so. The microbes clean the solution. Once every 12-18 months you may want to remove any sludge build-up at the bottom of the tank.

WHAT DO I DO IF THE FILTER MAT CLOGS UP QUICKLY WITH GREASE?

You may need to use the multi-layer filter mat – find them on our website.

CAN I JUST ADD WATER TO MY PARTS WASHER TO ADJUST THE FLUID LEVEL?

No. Even though the ROwasher is water based additional water will dilute the fluid and negatively affect the cleaning power. Adding untreated water could introduce negative organisms into the system killing off the important oil eating microbes.

CAN I BUY THE DETERGENT AS A CONCENTRATE AND MIX IT WITH WATER?

No. The detergent is pre-blended with specially treated water to ensure the best quality of cleaning solution is put into the parts washer

CAN I USE OTHER SOLUTIONS IN MY ROZONE PARTS WASHER?

No. Our parts cleaning systems have been painstakingly developed to work effectively as a whole – machine parts, fluid and the microbes. Other solutions may damage the machine or kill the microbes, thereby eliminating the advantages of the parts washer The use of other solutions will void the warranty

DOES My ROZONE PARTS WASHER ALWAYS HAVE TO BE PLUGGED IN?

The unit should always be plugged in so that the temperature is kept at the optimal working temperature (40°C) for the microbes to keep breaking down the oil/grease/etc. If you switch your parts washer off for a long period of time, or even just a weekend, then the microbes will slow down and eventually become dormant and ineffective. You will then need to reactivate the microbes by switching the system back on, adding a bottle of microbial booster to the tank and inserting a new filter mat.

So remember, your parts washer must remain on at all times – it`s also a more pleasant cleaning temperature for users to work with!

HOW MUCH OIL CAN I PUT IN AT A TIME?

As with all parts cleaners excessive grease, oil and fluids should be disposed of prior to washing. The Rozone parts washers can handle large, tough, dirty jobs, but are not designed to be a waste oil dump.

WHILST THERE ARE STILL SOME SOCIAL DISTANCING RESTRICTIONS IN PLACE, WHAT IS THE BEST PARTS WASHING OPTION AVAILABLE?

With reduced numbers of staff on-site and restrictions regarding visitors to site, it is best to opt for a parts washer that has no monthly service contract, such as the ROwasher. Then you can be assured that your parts washer will be working optimally, with little additional intervention and does not need a costly visit from a contractor each month.

WHAT ARE THE HAZARDS OF SOLVENT CLEANING?

There are many hazards to solvent cleaning; to the user and the environment. These include technicians having to handle hazardous substances, which have an explosion risk and are flammable liquids category 4. Some of the substances carry an organ toxicity risk or can cause drowsiness and may cause respiratory tract irritation. The solvent solution may need regular changing, and this becomes hazardous waste. Solvents are VOC and GHG.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF AQUEOUS PARTS WASHERS LIKE THE ROWASHER?

There are significant benefits, including lower health risks and dermatological irritations and no unpleasant smells. The technician/user does not come into contact with hazardous substances, there is no explosion risk and it is a comfortable working temperature at 40°C . Naturally occurring microbes decompose the oil and grease and the solution regenerates, giving it a long life of usage before any change is required.
